Hotels
Although for me, the best means of discovering Cuba is to stay in casa particular, I present a selection of five hotels (click on the thumbs to discover them) :
 - Hôtel Sevilla Havana
An entirely renovated hotel, ideally placed on the Prado in Centro Habana.
There is a pleasant bar in a patio, a cigars shop and a swimming pool.The
restaurant is on the eighth floor to dinner admiring the sight on theold
city. It profits from all the knowledge in hostelry of the French
group Accor who is the owner.
 - Hôtel Melia Las Americas
Since the permanent closure of the Varadero Club Med on May 17, 2003, I recommend this hotel of the famous cuban seaside resort. This very big hotel is located beside the Dupont de Nemours house and very close to the golf.
 - Hôtel Aquazul
There are no "casa particular" to rent in Varadero. You have to go at the hotel to enjoy the most beautiful beach in Cuba. If you reserve on the dtcuba.com, yo can have a room in this hotel in Varadero for about $25 in low season. Wiew see, balcon, swimming-pool, air-conditionned, TV by satelit.
 - Hôtel Moka Las terrazas
A colonial charm hotel in a natural reserve.
Immense rooms with private terrace and bathroom having view on outside.
A large swimming pool and a river where you can bathe. Ecological tourism
and a great puff of oxygen.
 - Hôtel La Ermita à Vinales
The hotel Ermita is comfortable, with a swimming pool and a splendid
panorama. It's close from Vinales and quieter than the hotel Los Jasmines
where unload in mass tourists who come to admire the sight on the valley.
 - Hôtel Casa Granda à Santiago de Cuba
A completely renovated hotel. Ideally located on the Cespedes Park beside the cathedral. Its bar on the 1st floor is animated. On the roof, there are a terrace with another bar and the restaurant with a beautiful sight on the city.

All the guest houses presented below, are legal. They are safe and comfortable.
- Havana :
Casa Pérez Bueno : calle Lealtad N° 362, 1st floor, entre San Rafael y San Miguel.

Ideally placed in Central Habana, house with an impressive height of ceiling, a pleasant lobby, clean, sure, hospitable. The huge breakfast cost 3 $. Possibility to have dinner. Reasonable prices for 20 $ for the room with air-conditioning.

Two big rooms like "suite" with a nice decoration,like in a museum. 20/25 $ depending the season. Air conditionning, possibility to take breakfast and dinner. David, the owner speak english and french. Very popular, almost always full because it's recommended by "le guide du routard".

Well situated not far from vedado, Nuevo Vedado and Miramar. Room full equiped and independent entrance, very clean and modern room. No dinner proposed. 25/30 $
- Pinar del Rio :
Casa Rolando Valdes : calle Retiro N°364 entre Capote y Oeste Hospital. Tel. 824698
For me it's better to stay in Pinar del Rio than Viñales who is a boring village. This casa has a garage and a private entry. Rolando the owner is very talkative and always ready to help you.
- Cienfuegos :
Casa Idania Perez : avenida 40 N° 3717 entre calle 37 y calle 39. Tel. 516497
A house built in 1954 with the architecture art deco. Even the majority of the pieces of furniture are of time. Large rooms with refrigerator, bathroom and independent entry.
- Trinidad :
Hostal Pablo : calle Ernesto Valdés Muñoz N° 69 entre Zerquera y Lumumba. Tel. 193652
There's lot of casas particulars in Trinidad and the choice is difficult. Don't follow anyone which make increase, with their commission, the price of 5 or 10 $. This guesthouse is very advisable for its tranquility, and the kindness of Pablo, the owner. Good cooking.
- Holguin :
Villa Lopez : calle Maceo N°50 entre 16 y 18, reparto El Llano (near the Loma de la Cruz). No telephone.
Holguin is a nice town. A room to rent with allthe first floor. There's a kitchen and a big terrace. Privacicity,, tranquility and reasonnable price for this casa particular.
- Santiago de Cuba :
Casa Glenda Diaz Picazo : calle Bayamo N°121 entre Barnaba y Placido. Tel. 620869
Two rooms to rent in a colonial house in the center of the city. Breakfeast and dinner are good. Safe and clean.
Casa Eddy Velasquez Hernandez : calle K N°255 entre 5ta y 6ta, Reparto Sueño. Tel. 645612
In a residential quarter near of the hotel Santiago, but a little bit far of the center of the city. Two rooms to rent a the first floor of a house. Good welcome.
A good adress in Baracoa - a place where ther is lot of guesthouses - Sea view, friendly owner and very good cooking.
